The town is famous for the Treaty of Alton which was signed between Robert, Duke or Normandy and his brother, Henry I of England, upon Robert’s return from the first crusade. Alton was important in ancient history due to a ford which enabled early traders to cross the River Wey. The town was originally a Roman settlement by the name of Vindomis. It later became known as Aoltone, which was mentioned as a very valuable market in the well-known historical Domesday Survey of 1086.
Like many other parts of South England, Alton has rather hard water, a phenomenon that brings certain problems with it. Our devices soften the water in a simple chemical process which does not depend on electricity. This in turn makes the water softeners absolutely reliable, even during power cuts. Lime in domestic water reduces the life expectancy of household appliances due to a build-up of limescale on the heating elements or other surfaces that come into direct contact with water. Typical victims are washing machines, dishwashers, boilers, kettles and coffee machines. Regular descaling of appliances used for making beverages and the use of descaling products in machines is a tedious process, which is eliminated by a water softening system. Bob Sargeant’s Water Softener Services is one of the most reliable water softener installers in Alton. Our solutions are compact, cost-efficient and easy to operate, saving you time, money and effort in the long run. We would be glad to come by and talk to you about the options. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
